next stop new york.

I am rather lucky this year to be spending my two week Christmas and New Year break with great friends in an amazing city. Literally can't wait to live out that 'Home Alone'/'Friends' NewYork-Christmas-dream with my other half and close friends. Read more over at my friend Sara's blog 'Big world, small me' (a big thanks to her and her husband for making this holiday dream come true). Cue the silly season, New York style!

copenhagen highlights.

A few weeks ago the lad and I spent a week in Copenhagen (followed by Gothenburg), to celebrate the aforementioned lad's birthday. Copenhagen has just been added to my list of places I'd love to live (along with Berlin and Amsterdam). The people are so friendly and effortlessly cool. The interiors are dreamy, in fact everything is easy on the eye. A few tips to follow of good eats and places worth a little look see if you are heading that way.

We stayed in the 'trendy' area of Nørrebro, in an ideal airbnb pozzie. Hired bikes from a shop down the road, as this is the way the locals get around - it's the best way to get a sense of the whole city. Just across the road from us was 'Jægersborggade', a hip little road full of wine bars, boutiques, interior stores and coffee shops. 'Mikkeller & friends' bar (the danish beer brand) was nearby too and defo worth a look. They have the bestest packaging and branding - great illustration style. The bar has 45 beers on tap for those* who dig beer (*the lad) it's quite something. Down the same road is craft coffee cafe 'The Coffee Collective' which has a few other spots around Copenhagen, and make a good brew. We stumbled upon a cafe gem called 'Grod', the menu is made up entirely of oats and grains - sweet or savoury (porridge, risotto, dahl etc). We loved it so much we had it again at the food market in Linnésgade which is well worth a visit. Especially with all the christmassy, foliage, decorations and cheer! Other cafes worth a mention; 'Atelier September' for the lovely marble table tops and top-notch coffee, also 'Granola' for a smashing brunch. This whole area is fun to wander through.

I booked a surprise dinner celebration at 'Host', for an amazing Danish degustation paired with wine. The food was amazing; served on brilliant ceramics, interior was to die for, delicious wine and amazing service. Such a treat and memorable night even after all the wine. Also for the evening I recommend the visiting the Meatpacking district (in the area of Vesterbro), it is rammed full of amazing bars, galleries and restaurants. The fella chose to visit 'WarPigs' brew pub, a meat/beer lovers dream followed by a hip bustling Mexican bar next door for cocktails and music. Copenhagen is a shopping mecca, expensive indeed but so great for inspo. Hay is worth a visit, but all the small independent interior shops are glorious. Fair to say I was impressed, take me back!

I'm not usually a fan of that 'cult' wardrobe item which flood various blogs, pop up in loads of streetstyle pics and appear all over instagram. However I cannot deny my love for this frilly miu miu shirt; seen below in a multitde of colours, and styled in various ways. You can't beat it with a classic blue wash mom jean. Gimme that!

road tripping.

The girls and I have hired a car for a few days to hit the open road and visit the beautiful sights of Devon (staying in Exeter). I can't wait to get out of London to soak in the views, and breathe in the sea air. Bring on weekend and cue the girly antics!

My other half and I have a trip booked to visit Copenhagen, Denmark (followed by Gothernburg, Sweden) at the end of November. I'm excited to get a dose of scandi style, they know best! I do love a city break, pounding the pavement in search or good cafes, bars & restaurants in between soaking in the sights. Counting down the days.

spring summer sixteen.

There are loads of great street style snaps circulating the web at the moment from SS16 fashion week shows. Just a few favs of mine below.

hato press.

A couple of weeks ago my workmates and I visited the 'Hato Press' studio in Hoxton. We did the two-colour image making risograph workshop which ran for 2.5 hours. It's an ideal social activity for a gang of creatives to get inspired, plus you come away with a bunch of prints worthy for the wall. We all left feeling revved up to create more risograph worthy designs! I'm pretty keen to head back, perhaps for one of their Saturday workshops to give it another go.

Last weekend the fella and I treated ourselves to a mini stay-cation and spent a night at the Ace Hotel, located in East London's Shoreditch. We spent the day lounging out in the cafe/lobby area, with delicious cups of coffee from 'Bulldog Edition' cafe and tasty brunch. The nearby Redchurch street and surrounding back alleys of Hoxton and Old Street made it the ideal location to stroll around the shops in the sunshine.

The room interior was glorious. Understated and modern with great industrial style details. The rooms have an enviable bathroom with the best hexagonal tiles, and of course robes to swan around in. We had a sweet street view of grungy neighbouring flats and could peer onto rooftop gardens across the road. Our evening kicked off with drinks at the 'Lobby bar' and later we dined at the hotels stylish restaurant 'Hoi Polloi'. The meal was delicious, from oysters to start right through to exquisite desserts, all accompanied (of course) by a cracking bottle of red wine.

Everything at Ace is well executed; from the huge arrangement of plants at the entrance to the simple branding throughout. All with friendly service along the way. I would recommend a stay at Ace Hotel to anyone, I hope one day to visit one of their other locations around the globe to relive it all again.

My girlfriends and I have been dying to visit this dreamy place for some time (Sketch, London). Finally... a high tea with the ladies in this fairy tale location is happening a couple of weekends from now. To celebrate a dear friends birthday, can't wait!
